At their recent graduation celebrations, the six senior classmates at Lakewood Academy in Glenwood marked the absence of an old friend. In 2008, then 8 year old Rorry Calder died in a terrible car accident at an intersection in Gander on the Trans Canada Highway. Every year at their final awards ceremony, Rorry is remembered by the school he would have attended, but this year as his friends graduated, the students wanted to make sure he was included in their special day.
Recently, CBC reporters spoke with Rorry's mother, Brandi, Principal Cathy Rowe and the members of the 2017 graduating class at Lakewood Academy about Rorry's memory and why it was important for them to include him in their special day.
